Recently, I received a text message reminding me that all Christians need a Paul, Timothy and Barnabas in their lives. Paul was the Mr. Miyagi of mentors. Timothy was Daniel Larusso, the brave, young pupil eager to learn everything and Barnabas was Mick (sorry, but I switched movie references), the guy you wanted in your corner as the master encourager.
All three of these roles are part of discipleship and I would love to encourage you to join us this summer as we take the fast-track at learning some of our discipleship tools. These tools will help you disciple others, be discipled by others and hopefully be an encouragement to others on the same journey.
Here is a look at the tools we will be learning:
- The Learning Circle (recognizing, processing and acting on God breaking through into our lives)
- Spiritual Voices (using the spiritual voice God has given you to support the body)
- The Triangle (identifying the importance of relationships and claiming our identity as believers)
- GOSPEL (how to use simple tools to share the Good News with others)
- The Semi-Circle (learning the difference between rest and work and the balance between them)
- The Hero's Journey (recognizing the cost to God's call on your life)
- The Discipleship Square (moving disciple to discipler)
I hope you will consider joining us as we disciple together and fulfill the Great Commission. Often we refer to this final command from Jesus as the reason to share the Good News, but sharing the Good News is only a small part of the greater command - Go and Make Disciples!
Each night we meet, you will learn the tool and then be given time to practice it and reflect on it. Whether you need to add these tools to your tool belt or maybe just sharpen the tools you already have - we hope you will join us.
Please check out the event calendar to find out all the dates we will be meeting this summer.
