As you begin this week, please take a minute to look over the Up, In & Out Triangle from last week. In that triangle, we are reminded that our first priority is our relationship with God and it is through our relationship with God we find identity. Our Identity is proven through our Obedience and it is through our Obedience, the Authority and Power of God is seen by the world around us.

This week, we are looking at the Temptation Triangle and the account of Jesus being tempted in the wilderness by Satan (Matthew 4:1-11).

Take a minute to look over the Temptation Triangle workheet. Aquaint yourselves with the different temptations, read the passage, and then read the application portion. The application portion will challenge you to see what temptations you commonly struggle with and sometimes even fall prey to.

Now, re-read the passage in Matthew. This time, don't focus on the temptations, instead focus on the different tools Jesus used to help him win the fight against Satan. Notice, it was the Spirit who led him into the wilderness. Notice the Scriptures He quotes in context and the Scriptures the devil quotes our of context.

What jumps out to you?

Are you more often where the Spirit has led you or where you need the Spirit to rescue you from?

Are you armed with the Word of God? If not, what can you do to get better at reading, memorizing and applying the Bible in your life?

Lastly, let's take a minute to look at another passage. Read Hebrews 12:1-2.

Discussion questions:

Do you feel alone in life or do you notice the great cloud of witnesses?

Is there a weight that prevents you from running at your best? This may not necessarily be a sin, but is something you have given greater importance in your life and is distracting you from running God's race for you.

What sins keep tripping you up? What do you need to do to remove them from your race?

Are you running your race or do you find yourself trying to run a completely different race?

Do you know where you're running? Are you focused on Jesus or have you become distracted and off course?

Do you truly know the awesomeness of what Jesus did specifically for you?

Do you know that God is in heaven watching your every move - not because He is judging you or critiquing you, but because He cares about you, loves you and wants the best for you?
