DiscipleShape - Week 5
The Quadrant
Before you read any further, please take a moment to look at the Quadrant Teaching Tool (found attached at bottom of Week 5 blog at RevealChurchPD.com/blog).
Hopefully you took some time to look at the shape and think through the application process. As children of God, He wants all of his children to feel empowered. We have all been called to an amazing mission of spreading the Gospel and making disciples and this best happens when those who are called are feeling empowered. The truth is though that we all go through seasons where we find ourselves in one of the other quadrants. We recognize that we have become too cozy or lazy or are feeling stressed and not performing at our best. God wants each of us to be at our best and the best happens when we have a healthy balance of Invitation and Challenge in our lives.
This week, let's take a minute to read the Parable of the Sower:
Luke 8:4-8
As a large crowd was gathering, and people were coming to Jesus from every town, he said in a parable, "A sower went out to sow his seed. As he sowed, some seed fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the bords of the sky devoured it. Other seed fell on the rock; when it grew up, it withered away, since it lacked moisture. Other seed fell among thorns; the thorns grew up with it and choked it out. Still other seed fell on good ground; when it grew up, it produced fruit; a hundred times what was sown." As he said this, he called out, "let anyone who has ears to hear listen."
When Jesus told this parable, he was telling a story about the way people receive the good news of the Gospel, but the points still apply to us as believers. We all go through seasons where it feels like we are being trampled on, attacked by the enemy or choked out by the weeds in our lives. Hopefully though, we have also gone through seasons where the ground is good and we see fruit.
What kind of season are you in and do you think the season you are in has any effect on the quadrant you put yourself?
Why do you feel like you are or aren't in good ground? Why do you think you are or aren't seeing fruit?
I hope each of you are feeling empowered. I hope each of you are feeling like you are in good ground. Don't get stressed through if you aren't. Just like the weather, life as a believer goes through seasons. Be encouraged! It might simply be that you need to find a little better balance. It might simply be that your priorities have gotten a little ascue.
Spend some time in prayer. Seek God. Set some goals. Reveiew the other tools and work your learning circle. God is doing something awesome!
